Meet Leah
Therapist, MSW, LSW, (Licensed Social Worker), she/her
Hey! I’m Leah. Being judgment-free and empathetic is inherent to my role as a clinician. As a clinical social worker with a background in community mental health, I have worked with an extremely wide range of individuals and couples, and I firmly believe that all humans are worthy of support, connection, and a space to process their many thoughts and feelings. I specifically have experience working with adults struggling with daily stressors (including depression, anxiety, relationship and/or boundary concerns, shame, and grief), as well as teens and adults who have out-of-control sexual behaviors. I have also worked in a human rights organization focused on LGBTQIA+ and immigrant communities in New York City. This varied experience has taught me that all people deserve support throughout all of life’s journeys, including you.
In my work with couples, I integrate Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Gottman tools, and sex therapy techniques to help partners strengthen their emotional bonds, improve communication, and navigate conflict with greater understanding. I also have unique specialization in out-of-control sexual behavior within relationships, as well as personality disorders that are impacting relational efficacy. Additionally, I incorporate sex therapy into my practice, recognizing the vital role that intimacy and connection play in a healthy relationship. Whether addressing concerns around desire, mismatched libidos, or healing from past experiences, we can work together to find deeper understanding, joy, and peace within your relationship.
As someone who has been on both sides of the therapeutic relationship, I understand that everyone has unique preferences of styles and approaches. I am happy to embrace humor when appropriate, while also providing psycho-education and concrete interventions as needed. I also understand that talking about certain topics can be hard–even in the therapy room. I take an extremely holistic approach and recognize the connection between healthy sexuality and a healthy well-being, while supporting my clients as they “connect the dots.” Whether you are hoping to problem solve specific concerns, vent to an understanding ear, or learn strategies to increase self-care in daily life, I am happy to support you through it all.
Just thinking about connecting with a clinician is the first step towards a more joyous and peaceful life–you are already halfway there! It is time to trade shame for support and make progress towards whatever goals you might have for yourself and your mental health. I look forward to being a part of your healing journey.
