Meet Alexis

Therapist, MPH, MA, LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor), she/her

I’m Alexis, and I am passionate about working with clients as they face significant life transitions. Perhaps you are looking for support as you navigate big changes in your life, such as becoming a parent, grieving the loss of a loved one, changing your career path, or ending a significant relationship. Oftentimes the transitions we face are less visible--you may be. working through internal changes so that you can live a more meaningful, sustainable, and fulfilling life. I enjoy working collaboratively with clients to identify, accept, and reduce unhelpful thoughts and behaviors; build on strengths; and clarify personal values and goals. I offer a safe space for clients to explore vulnerable emotions and experiences--both laughter and tears are welcome and encouraged. Through our work together, we will weave meaningful connections between the past and the present as a pathway to positive change in the future.

I have over 20 years of experience in the field of maternal and child health and am passionate about perinatal mental health and parenting issues. I am also deeply dedicated to working with clients experiencing grief, loss, and end-of-life issues. In addition, through my training at the UC Health Employee Assistance Program, I am committed to supporting health care workers and their family members as they cope with the stress and demands of work and life. My approach is individualized to meet the needs of each client and is primarily person-centered and strengths-based. I incorporate elements of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness, and Motivational Interviewing into my practice. It is an honor for me to hear, hold, understand and synthesize clients’ feelings, perceptions, and aspirations as they navigate life’s challenges.

I am intentionally inclusive in my practice and welcome clients from diverse cultural, racial, and religious backgrounds and offer a safe space for the LGBTQIA+ community. I take an ecological approach to counseling and recognize the impact of structural, environmental, and oppressive factors that impact our overall health and wellbeing. I understand that it is essential to find a therapist who is a good fit for your needs. Please reach out to schedule a complimentary 15-minute consultation so that we can connect. I look forward to hearing from you.

When I’m Not Counseling…

you can find me spending time with my 3 children and my 3 cats, taking walks with friends, reading, cooking, gardening, and dreaming of travel.
